Richard Dawkins reads his hate mail

I take it back, the man does have a sense of humour after all!

A good antidote for the mass of christ festivities

wikiLeaks - democratic incontinence

Since formation in 2007, WikiLeaks has been victorious over every legal (and illegal) attack, including those from the Pentagon, the Chinese Public Security Bureau, the Former president of Kenya, the Premier of Bermuda, Scientology, the Catholic & Mormon Church, the largest Swiss private bank, and Russian companies.
WikiLeaks mirror site (active 8.12.10).

That’s a bundle of powerful entities to piss off!

I’ve read too many crime books to be able to view the WikiLeaks/Assange arrest as anything other than Big Brother at its worst. Obviously he didn’t have any illegal downloads on his computer to nab him for and as much as I’m a feminist and believe in the case of sexual assault I give the woman the benefit of the doubt any day….

There seems to be something rotten in the state of Denmark Sweden over this claim. But without seeing the evidence, how can I judge?

The other prong of anti-Assangism seems to be about placing operatives in danger, either soldiers in the field or spooks in the world. Has the information published on the site actually done so? Would Amnesty International awarded them an award in 2009 for human rights reporting award (New Media) if it had lead to the life of an operative being threatened?

The issue is that politicians, churches and other powerbrokers have been embarrassed. Snippy comments on official communiqués that puts “passing notes in class” to shame.

Finally the true power of the internet is being felt, putting the so called free press to shame.

These are interesting times and I can’t wait to see how the saga unfolds.

In the meantime all you blog loving lefties, have a damn good clean up of your hard drive to remove any suspicious downloads and always use a condom!
