not forgotten

The silly bugger on the left would've turned 50 today, if he hadn't gone and got himself a brain tumour in 1993.

Happy Birthday big bro.

Thinking of you.

Oh god, that raised a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye. Then I realised he was only one year older than my big bro, who was diagnosed HIV positive in 1993. But he still lives, which is probably the ultimate affront to you.

My thoughts are with you

oh dear Rants, Loss is an un-navigable road. When so many people are saved by surgery when he was not, adds anger to bereft. There are no words that can comfort you, so I can only say - I know your pain.

Thanks all for your kind words.

Anon, re the HIV not affronted. I mean why share the pain around? Though at the time I was acutely aware that if he'd had HIV there'd have been more resources to support him and us through his illness, than a boring old, inoperable, untreatable tumour.

Your bro is lucky, the HIV drug protocol in '93 was not very effective. How wonderful he's a survivor :)
