because we LET them get away with it.

'It found the Department of Education had generally dismissed or ignored complaints of child sexual abuse and dealt inadequately with them.'

That bit applies to many situations in Australia as well.
We LET them.
News may flare for a week, but a year on, and nobody recalls the names of the bad-guys.
Four Corners may investigate, but The Great Unwashed are watching Desperate Housewives instead.

In the past few days we have had news of the trial of a couple who starved their child to death.
Their neighbours, families, and community LET them do this.

Suu Kyi has been imprisoned for 19 years, and we LET it happen.
As Thomas Hobbes said: "life is short cruel and brutish"
Maybe we (you and I) should adjust ourselves to the reality that despite credit cards, we are all just savage tribes.
Savagely raping and stealing and swindling everything in the place.
Happy little suburban housewives going to bali despite knowing about the bombing there of drunken aussies, and stealing an ugly shitty rubber barmat fer fksakes.
the stupid cow will be on interview shows all week, and in the No Idea, and her children will die of embarrassment.
None of these people care about systemic abuse of children.
let's face it, if the Dan Brown movies haven't caused the world to storm the gates at Vatican City, then what on earth would? Nothing.

The Not Boyfriend has downloaded the entire report (all 5 volumes) and is reading them, making outraged comments.

It expect him to surface in about a week, ready to burn some churches.

I noted that the Ryan report did not recommend banning the Catholic Church from any contact with a child under 18. This is the only way to be sure that this doesn't happen again. they're still protecting the Catholic Church.

Its a very simple equation: Religion = Child Abuse, and it offers a very simple solution. The Catholic Church has thoroughly demonstrated that they can not be trusted with the care of children. So stop all government funding of religious schools, orphanages and child institutions, in fact close them down and transfer both the funding and inmates to state institutions. Any person with any religious affiliations or status should be not allowed to work with children; an instant red line through any working with children check!

Number one on my wish list would be to criminalize the teaching of religion to any child under the age of 18 as an instance of child abuse

Small news item today mentions that the US Senate has ceased prefacing it's day with a (Holy Christian) Bible quote. small increments.
The HB has a supposed quote from their hero Jesus Christ
"Suffer the little children to come unto me" which in context means 'allow the children',
but these days seems to mean -
'bring me children I will cause to suffer'.

It is possible that the defining moment of this era will be the First World getting cults on the run.
The Archbishop of Canterbury recently proved that he is an idiot, we know all the Popes are.
Both as impotent as the UN.
All 3 should get their snouts out of the trough and appear everywhere that helpless people are preyed upon, and yet they don't.
The mere presence of either Eminence in Burma today
(how hard is it to get on a plane?)
could free Suu Kyi, who is worth more than both of them.

Get NB to call me when he wants help.
